The Characteristics of a Prize Winning Slogan

Writing a slogan can be made easier when the characteristics of a prize winning slogan are well known. A good slogan will have all sorts of different characteristics, including an upbeat feeling, vivid language and in some cases reminders of what can happen when something is not used. Here’s a look at some of the many characteristics to use.

One of the main characteristics of a prize winning slogan is that it is something that is exciting. An exciting slogan is one that will call people to action. Sometimes like “Join the fun of an international cruise” can be a slogan that is exciting. This is because not only is there a reference to the fun that can happen but it is exciting in that it creates images of thrills in an international vacation. Of course, the words to use should be different based on the business that the slogan is being written for.

A good slogan will refer the business itself. This is used so that the person who sees the slogan will be aware of the company that attaches itself to the slogan. Something that is alliterative or easy to remember can be great. This includes possibly using rhyme or any other devices to get people to remember the business. In the middle of the twentieth century Chevrolet invited people to “see the U.S.A. in your Chevrolet.” This rhyming technique worked in that it was not only memorable but it also refers to the business.

Inspirational slogans can be great to consider. When writing a slogan it helps to encourage the buyer to get the product that is being promoted. Virginia Slims advertised for its cigarettes with its “You’ve come a long way” campaign. This is a great example of an inspirational slogan because it makes the potential buyer feel good about one’s self.

Sometimes a prize winning slogan can create a reminder of negative things. This is used so that the company will show how not using their products can be dangerous. This is especially used among security system companies or insurance groups. A slogan like “don’t wait until it’s too late” is an example of this because it encourages people to use a service or product so that the worst case scenario can be avoided. While this is not as upbeat as other slogans it can still be effective.

Sometimes the best thing to use for writing a slogan is that of being boastful. Slogans with words like “America’s favorite” or “everyone loves” can be useful because it encourages people to get on the bandwagon of the product or service that many people are already using.

These are all characteristics of a prize winning slogan to consider. Writing a slogan can be easy to do if these characteristics are considered. Not only can they help to encourage people to use what is being offered but they can indeed be especially memorable and therefore helpful to the business and its future.
